Muscle drives metabolism

If you want to create a slim and fit physique you must eat protein, fruits and veggies along with a balance of exercise.  When trying to lose weight you should not perform all cardio and no muscle strengthening or vice versa, all weight training and no cardio.  Besides toning your body, muscle burns calories at rest.  When you lose muscle as a result of a wrong diet approach, not only does it slow your results by decreasing the overall metabolism, but it also sets you up for a rebound, which means quickly gaining back lost weight as a result of the cumulative decrease in metabolism over time.  

Have heard of the term “skinny fat”?  This term is mainly geared toward women in their approach to training.
